It was 5 day holidays for Diwali 2014 at the end of the holidays on Sunday we made a trip to Biligundlu. Actually the destination initially we fixed was one and we explored another fine destination. The first fixed destination was Rasimanal but we ventured to Biligundlu.
Rasimanal is the place on the banks of river Cauvery. I came to know about this place, couple of years back on daily newspaper regarding the erection of hydroelectric power stations between Krishnaraja Sagar(KRS) dam and Mettur dam. The proposed place to construct the power plant is Sivasamudram, Makedatu, Rasimanal and Hogenakkal, whereas the Sivasamudram and Makedatu lies in Karnataka, while Rasimanal and Hogenakkal lies in Tamilnadu. Till now power plants were not constructed in these places due to the Cauvery water dispute between the two states.
From this news, I had a desire to venture these places. Hogenakkal is called as Niagara Falls of India and it is very near to our town and I had visited this place very frequently during my holidays. Hence we finalized the destination as Rasimanal and we started our journey. we started on Sunday (26-10-14) at 7.30 a.m. We chose the Palakode route. The reason why we choosed this route was full of country roads accompanied by greenery. When we reached Palakode it started to rain. The low running clouds passes the nearby hills. we enquired about the hills from the local people and came to know this place named Malaiyoor and there was a temple in the hill. An additional information from them was Bangalore people usually come here for paragliding. I took some snaps on the low passing clouds.
After our photo shoot, we headed towards Pennagaram when we reached, the climate changes and it was full of hot. Finally, we reached Hogenakkal.
The above snap is the base station of Hogenakkal integrated drinking water project. After reaching Hogenakkal we ordered our lunch to our well-known cook who is working in Hogenakkal. we decided to move to Rasimanal so we have enquired about the place from local massage man in Hogenakkal, he bargained a lot of money to guide us to reach the place, so we neglected the loose talks and proceeded to Biligundlu their we enquired about Rasimanal. A very fine burden had happened in our exploration of Rasimanal. The local people told that there was lot of restriction to enter the place. They told we want to get proper permission from Forest officials. We lose our hope and lot of frustration was in our mind. On that time a coracle rider told we can go to Central water commission by coracle and can enjoy the place with less crowded people. So we decided to go to the place and headed in the coracle ride.
This boat is used to measure the flow rate in the Cauvery river by the Central water commission. On the coracle ride, we enjoy lush greenery on both sides on the banks of Cauvery.
The above place was our camping place for the day, we spend the whole day in this place and the coracle man is a kind person who assists in our trip. finally, we enjoyed the fun-filled time.
On our return back to Bligundlu I took some snaps and the sky is very clear. Overall we enjoyed very well but only the worst part was, we wouldn't explore Rasimanl. Thus it was not the end its beginning to explore Rasimanal with full of study about the place and collecting some reference contacts who would take us to Rasimanal. On the fun-filled evening, we headed towards Hogenakkal. The water level is around 15,000 cusecs. We had a nice bath in cine falls
The main falls view is amazing on the evening time. Around 6.30 p.m we made our return journey now we omitted Palakode route, we headed straight to Dharmapuri and reached home at 8.30 p.m.
At last the trip ends without satisfactions due to Rasimanal. Surely we will explore the place on our next trip.
