Sangama-Mekedatu-Chunchi Falls-one day trip

Travellers:  Althaf, Karthick, Nishanth, Sathish, Mani bro, Suresh, Santhosh.....
Target destination: Sangama-Mekedatu-Chunchi Falls....
Mode of transport: Inova...
time duration: one day......
route: Krishnagiri-Bangalore-Kanakpura-Sangama-Mekedatu-Chunchi Falls.
distance: from Bangalore its 90 km.

It was 2nd weekend of November 2013 our friend Althaf returned home from the USA so we decided to take a break in the fast-moving schedule and we are searching for a correct destination. By that time Nishanth told about Sangama-Mekedatu-Chunchi Falls. hence we zeroed the plan and informed to all our friends. The positive node from our friends kick-started the trip.
our actual plan is to stay at our friend's home in Saturday night and to departure early in the next day morning me, Althaf and Sathish make our way to Bangalore in the bus, remaining friends are waiting in Bangalore. they picked us in Nishanth's Inova near silk board. and we went to our friend's room.
we cooked chicken and chapatis for dinner in Suresh home. Next day we woke up early and packed our baggage and left the city in 8.30 but we got stuck in the traffic while picking Santhosh in Bommanahalli.

we had our breakfast on the way to Kankapura. we picked our friend Suresh in Kankapura. as we crossed Kankapura signboard indicates our route and we are sure about the route. on the way there was a lot of cattle herd and lot of greenery....we enjoyed by hearing nice songs on the way.....

while nearing Sangama ghats section gets started and we want to drive carefully. Finally, we reached Sangama. This place is the joining point of two rivers "Arkavathi and Cauvery".
Basic amenities are there in the Sangama but, not up to the mark. Initially, we planned to visit Mekedatu. The Cauvery river flowing in the  Sangama makes impossible to reach Mekedatu by own transportation e. we want to cross the river by coracle the local people charge 30 for each person for drop and pick up from both sides.

when you reach another side a private bus is running for a distance of 4 km the charges are 50 per head. the condition of the bus is worse but it was the only mode of transport to reach Mekedatu.

once u reach Mekedatu you want to go down the staircase to reach the Cauvery river. The story of Mekedatu was "the width of the river is minimum that a goat would jump across", hence the place is named as Mekedatu. (Meke = goat, datu = cross in Kannada). The river runs through a deep narrow gorge"

we climbed the rocks to see clearly the water stream. we took a lot of snaps and had some fun...

After some time we returned to Sangama on the same bus and we had a nice bath in the Cauvery river. we returned to our Inova and ahead towards to the Chunchi falls which is nearer. It was 8 km from Sangama.

its an ideal spot don't try to take bath in Chunchi falls it is very dangerous and it is too high. the water is dirtier and polluted some sewage waste of Bangalore city gets mixed in this place.  finally, we enjoyed nature and had some photo session and fun. Finally, we returned to Bangalore on the way it was rainy we got separated in silk board and wen to their homes. at last, it was an awesome weekend.........

SAFETY TIPS:
  1. Take bath only in Sangama, not in Mekedatu and  Chunchi Falls.
  2. No proper accommodation is available if u want to stay choose any hotels in Kankapura.
  3. beware of crocodiles in Sangama while bathing.
  4. There were no proper hotels so prefer your own food by packing from hotels in Kankapura or in your home.
  5. beware of monkeys in Sangama and protect your holdings during your bath time in Sangama.
  6. public transport is less from Kanakapura to Sangama. make sure about the timings. public transport will be impossible to Chunchi falls make your way by own transport.
