Distance: 187*2 km
Mode of transport: omini.
Activities: Camping, Hiking, Sightseeing.
Route: krishnagiri-Salem-Rasipuram-Karavalli(foothills of Kolli)-Semmedu(Kolli hills).

It had been a long time for making a trip to a hill station in the summer season. we were planning for a perfect destination and a perfect time to make a trip. As it was good Friday, Easter holidays we planned a trip and got a positive nod from our friends. that our friend Srini agreed to take his omini for the trip and we finalized the destination as Kolli hills.
lot of homework was done for this trip. we are sure that we couldn't do things which we could do usually in all our trips. Thus we planned to go camping in Kolli hills so that we can enjoy the weather to an extent in this summer season. we enquired the correct place for camping we got all the info about Kolli hills. The only thing we got disappointed was, there is no water stream in any of the falls but our friend Althaf tells "let's go and enjoy the weather" this gives energy and started from our hometown Krishnagiri.
we started in on 17.4.14(Thursday) on 4.30 pm but we got delayed in travel due to some reason and for the surprise, we reached Kolli hills at 11.30 pm. we had fixed a spot for camping and collected some fire woods for campfire and barbecue chicken.
we packed 2kg chicken for barbecue. our friend Althaf prepared yummy masala for chicken while Nishanth took care of the fire.

all our joyful stuff ends with late night party, campfire. we went to sleep in our camp. the second day starts in the early morning at 5.30 am and we made the plan to hike to Agayagangai falls as it has 1000+ steps. we reached the falls before the sunrise.  while hiking the hills are a visual treat to our eyes.
these are footsteps leading to the Agayagangai falls.

the scenic beauty of hills on the way to falls
we reached falls but we got disappointed due to the scarcity of water level, only little amount of water is drizzling from the falls but water gets stagnates in a waterhole thus we took bath in the waterhole.

after our bath, we went to Arapaleeswarar temple which is near the falls. we all prayed in the temple and finished our breakfast. then we went for boating in boathouse and had a well relaxed time. villagers.
boat house
after a fine time in boat house next, we visited the botanical garden. the garden is full of herbal trees. you can spot a lot of coffee plants, species, betel leaf plants, and full of silver oak trees. The next destination in our trip was Seekuparai viewpoint this place shows the real hidden beauty of Kolli hills, about 60-70% of Kolli hills is viewed from Seekupari viewpoint.
panoramic view from Seekuparai viewpoint

we had taken a lot of snaps in Seekuparai viewpoint. we further had lunch in Solakkadu. The trips end with full of satisfaction.
Due to time delay, we missed two more viewpoints. at last, it was a nice trip in summer. we reached home early 6.00pm in the eve on the return we chose Namakal highway route.
places covered: Agayagangai falls, Arapaleeswarar temple, boat house, botanical garden, Seekuparai viewpoint
TIPS:
1) Kolli hills have 70 hairpin bends which are steeper as compared to Ooty or Yercadu.
2) best season is post-monsoon season i.e. October to mid-January.
3) Nallathambi resort is the best choice for accommodation.
4) Kolli hills can be reached by Rasipuram or Namakkal. the public transportation is available from Namakkal to Arapaleeswarar temple directly. transportation from Rrasipuram or Salem is less.
5) first go to Agayagangai falls in the early morning otherwise you want to fight with sweating and sun as there are 1000+ footsteps.
